How can elements have more then 8 valence electrons when bonding?
Q. My chemistry book only says that elements in a higher period than 2 can have more then 8, giving examples how Phosphorus can share 5 pairs and how Sulfur can share 6. How can phosphorus have 5 pairs when the s and p orbitals together only hold 8? Do the electrons go to the D orbitals?

A. No no , the other electrons must form a another shell it s impossible to have more than 8 electrons 2 and 3rd shell unless you are speaking of a 4th shell that can hold 11 electrons...

What is the difference between section 8 housing and low income housing?
Q. I applied for section 8 and was approved but I'm still given the run around having to send and resend the proper paper work to see what amount they will qualify me for. I haven't gotten my voucher yet but its been a year and I'm ready to move already.I'm thinking to just say the hell with section 8 and sign up for low income but before I do I wanna know which is better.

A. I manage a low income apartment community and the difference between the two is Section 8 or HUD is where they issue housing vouchers to a rental property that accepts it, they you would pay the rest (if any depending on your income). Low income housing is where there are income restrictions based on how many people are in your home, but you still have to pay rent. The rent is a set amount and does not change depending on your income. Section 8 is worth all the hassle.

Can you wrangle section 8 applicants into preselected units in Colorado?
Q. I recently worked for a property management company that would only allow section 8 voucher participants to only live in certain buildings on the property. Coincidently, these were considered the least desirable units on the property.The property had 10 towers and 100 town homes but the management would have us only offer certain units to section 8 and would not even consider letting section 8 people rent the town homes. This management company would also ask the section 8 prospect how much there voucher is for and then change (raise) the price depending on their answer. Can any one tell me if this is legal?

A. Yes, this is legal. the units can be designated and section 8 only. The only state that you can't do this in is MA. As long as the rent is at the voucher amount or below no laws have been broken.
