A. well, you have to be the parent here, and for sure intelligence and motivation do not always have a correlation. Set her daily tasks up so that the reading is the last item on the list-she cannot indulge in the reading till her less-favorite tasks are finished. Try using a timer to encourage her to beat-the-clock on her math drills. Make the timer the arbiter of tasks, and you be the coach and cheering section. She still needs much guidance, encouragement and accountability at 9, maybe even more so because she is so intelligent. best wishes!
